I was inspired to carve the little monk after a five week visit to Kyoto, Japan.

The little monk is carved from an old cedar fence rail. He stands patiently, hands open in a blessing and acceptance  of the transitory nature of life. The weathered lines of the wood base become the folds and texture of his robes. Changing from cedar tree to fence rail to sculpture of a little monk is its own kind of reincarnation.

The little monk is 14 inches tall, Total sculpture measures 9 x 7 x 37 inches. A limited bronze edition of ten is available, molded directly from the original carving.
