                                                        The little monk

I was inspired to carve the little monk after a five week visit to Kyoto, Japan.
He’s carved from an old cedar fence rail, and stands patiently, hands open in a blessing and acceptance
of the transitory nature of life. The weathered lines of the wood base become the folds and texture of
his robes. Changing from cedar tree to fence rail to sculpture of a Buddhist monk is its own kind of reincarnation.

The little monk is 14 inches tall, Total sculpture measures 9 x 7 x 37 inches.
Now a limited bronze edition of ten. Molded directly from the original carving.
